Message but something that all you folks interested in MPG etc. might like to see.

Trip was 1,980 miles total, and included 2 passengers and baggage for a week, guessing about 550lb.

Consumed 85.91 gal. for a 23.04 mpg total trip average. Gas average cost was $1.649/gal for making a .07157 per mile fuel cost.

Lowest gas cost was $1.599 (Fl), highest was $1.739 (SC)

Best single tank was 25.24, running interstate at 70ish on cruise. While the AC was off, Ttops were out, which I suspect the turbulance might have hampered total mpg some.

Worst tank was 21.01 which was a mix of mountain roads with some 'spirited' driving and a couple of hundred miles of interstate at 80 with the AC on.

While we all know that AC off/on has some impact, and that actual travel speed has some impact, I have noticed (over several trips like this) that speed is the BIGGEST factor for my car. Under like conditions, cruising at 80 looses 2 mpg over cruising at 73.

Almost 10% fuel savings for 7 mph is pretty significant. I have added headers and dual exhaust to old V8 cars and only improved 10% in road mileage.

My educated guess is that with the NA gearing the 'sweet spot' for the engine effiency is about 2500 RPM.

The one thing that unites all Z owners, regardless of age, gender, religion, economic status or ethnic background, is that deep down inside we ALL believe that we are above average drivers.
